Guests at Bauer’s Twin Pine Retreat love the peace and quiet. They often spot deer that wander thru the yard - this is your chance to become one with nature. We specifically designed it for family vacations, snowmobile club getaways, weddings or large gatherings yearound. The main corridor snowmobile trail is right out front door, just beyond that is the not so little 972 acre Little St Germain Lake! Bring the poles and fish fry mix because you’re in for a good time catching Panfish, Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Northern Pike and Walleye - or battling Musky!
Choose your favorite St. Germain attractions and recreation. Kids and teens will love go-karting at Elmer’s Fun Park, playing Miniature Golf at 19th Hole Wilderness and the laser tag arena. If you’ve never been on an ATV/UTV - the trails and routes around the Minocqua/St. Germain area are a unique way to see the lakes and forests. Large groups have been known to rent a pontoon and cruise the beautiful Minocqua Chain of Lakes! Gather the troops and lace up your hiking boots - we recommend the Awassa Preserve, Shannon Lake, or any of the Northern Highland–American Legion State Forest trails.
Since you book with us (Roger & Joanne), I can give your group tips on how to “fit it all in”! Even during winter. Groomed cross-country trails and snowshoe enthusiasts can make their own tracks. With 14 bedrooms and 5.5 baths Bauer’s Twin Pine Retreat is perfect for groups of snowmobilers - trailer up those sleds and head Up North to St. Germain for the best snowmobiling in Wisconsin. “Sled” right from your front yard! Third year here and have enjoyed it every year. The scenery is absolutely beautiful. The people that live in the area and run the local businesses are friendly. I love the cabin feel you get from the inside of the lodge and all of the beautiful trees that surround it. We look forward to staying here every year. Carolyn Trinkle
Ive been a up here a few times this year and keep liking it more and more. It's hard to find a reasonable place that sleeps this many first, second, there is an amazing pavilion/patio out back with a built in fire pit that is the best for entertaining! The owners are good people and easy to work with, lakes everywhere...what else could you need? Robert Stiles
The resort was awesome! would highly recommend it. we enjoyed being inside as much as outside. within walking distance to an ice cream shop, a coffee shop & lake. Rene Ferrazzi
Amazing place to stay! Roger and JoAnn are wonderful! Beautiful lodge with everything you need. Convenient location. Beds are very comfortable! Everything is new, immaculate & spotless clean! Great access right on the trails! Plenty of parking! Huge cozy gathering & dining area. Can't say enough great things about our wonderful stay here this weekend! Thank you for everything! Highly recommended to everyone! Tara Schroedermeier Beebe
The moment I walked in I knew that I wanted to come back. This property is stunning inside and out. Spacious but feels cozy, rustic decor, beautiful fireplaces, comfy furniture. Large covered patio and fire pit in back yard. During our stay we visited Helene Hilltop Orchard in Merrill WI. And went shopping in downtown Minocqua WI. very quaint and charming little town. We enjoyed our time at the retreat, Roger and Joann are great hosts. In the Northland Woods area fall foliage was beautiful. Tracy Mart
Roger and Joann go out of their way to make resort very children friendly. We loved it and had a wonderful time. Really enjoyed the large yard, shelter, and fire pit. We will be back. Howars S
27 of my family stayed here. Our stay was awesome. The accommodations were fantastic and the owners checked in on us to make sure everything was good. As family members arrived, they were in awe of the house and grounds. We had a great time and have booked again for next year. Daniel M
Our large family recently stayed and really enjoyed our stay. There was plenty of room and the kitchen was very equipped for our large family! I would highly recommended this property and the owners are very personable! We are looking forward to next years visit back and we are planning on many more family vacations here! Thanks again for a great stay! April W
A very roomy yet personal feel made our family vacation one to remember. All the amenities you could ask for and then some. We had three branches of our family with ages from 4 to 58 and there was plenty for everyone. Highly recommend if you're gonna be in the north woods to look Bauer's Twin Pines up! Jim B

My name is Roger Bauer, the owner & Joanne. Both of us were born and raised in Iowa and wanting to move to Wisconsin after our kids have graduated. Bought this home to remodel it and make it pretty again. We wanted to offer people something that was not offered in this area to have room for large family's to be in the same house. We saw this home while we were on vacation and it had sat vacant for many years. We kept checking on the home every few months for a few years. We were finally able to put an offer on it and purchase it. We believe in fixing homes and not tearing them down when they need a lot of work. This home once was the largest home in St Germain WI and we wanted to make it a special home again. This home was built by the first owner George Phillip in 1958. George was a very high producing Realtor in St Germain.
