The Lumber Jack, with its wooden interior and exterior - has a rustic atmosphere that will make you feel right at home. Perfect for a family that enjoys the atmosphere of the great outdoors but with the amenities of modern life, it will ensure that you have a cozy place to come home to after a day spent hiking, biking, and exploring the outdoors. In the morning, you can relax on the screened-in front porch and enjoy a cup of coffee, starting your day in nature while still sheltered from the elements.
Inside, you will find tastefully decorated, wood-paneled walls, ceiling fans, and tall, sloping ceilings. There is a fully furnished kitchen, complete with a microwave, coffee pot, and cookware. If you’re not interested in eating out, you should have everything you need to make dinner for the whole family during each night of your stay.
The vacation home has two bedrooms, each with a queen-sized bed, along with a futon in the living room. Together, it sleeps a total of six. There is also a bathroom with a shower.
One of the best features of this property is the gas grill that is available for your private use. You can grill fresh-caught fish outside, or, maybe, just a meal from the grocery store. With an alternative to cooking indoors, you won’t get bored of culinary opportunities during your stay. If there are issues with any appliances, you can head to the front office, which is very close to your building, during operating hours.
In the resort itself, there are plenty of opportunities for outdoor recreation. You can enjoy Ghost Lake, with free access to a bait house and boat ramp, or go for a walk around the property. The Lodge Bar and Grill also offers a great dining opportunity and opportunity to see events just outside of your home. If you are interested in venturing outside of the resort, however, the Hayward Lakes area has plenty to offer.
For other dining options, we recommend The Whistle Punk for coffee or craft beer. There is also Frankie’s Pizza, Flat Creek Restaurant, and more. The area is bustling with culture, but if you want to get away from the crowds, we have plenty of opportunities for that, too. From skiing to biking to hiking to ATV trails, there is really something for anyone who wants to get out in the great outdoors.
There are also events throughout the year that revolve around outdoor activities, representing some of the best of Wisconsin’s culture. Fat Bike Birkie is a snow bike race that takes place in March. There are also a variety of annual fishing events as well as the Lumberjack World Championships, which is held in July.

Classic Northwoods setting with beautiful lodge and grounds! Michelle and Terry are the best! Jean Kempenich Wolfe
Had a great 4-night stay here. Site was large enough for our 36' 5th wheel and long bed truck, plus room for an EZ up and sitting around the fire. Had a few drinks at the lodge and Terry and Michelle were great hosts! Deb Sadler Bertling
