All-sport Barker Lake is a 213 acre lake and our Barker Lake Lodge has a maximum capacity of 65 guests including 6 cabins and the lodge. We are known to host family reunions, weddings, corporate retreats, and special events. It’s legendary because the resort was designed and built in 1929. It was a prohibition gangster retreat for Beer Barons and thugs, and is close to Al Capone’s Hideout.
Guests enjoy taking a step back in time at the resort and wine tasting at a nearby 1870's schoolhouse.
Legacy Lodge can sleep up to 27 guests comfortably in 5 cabins, with 9 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. Between the 9 rooms there are 5 queen beds, 6 full beds and 6 twin beds.
If you love the great outdoors, then Hayward, WI is your adult playground: 55,000 acres of lakes; 300,000 acres of forestland. Hayward is also the Golf Capital of Wisconsin! Cabin 5 is also on a Time Treasured Golf Course: Barker Lake Golf Course in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest.
There are several Wilderness Walks; a Go Kart track; delicious candy shops; incredible snowmobile, ATV, UTV trails - ask us about the Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival. All ages love to go horseback riding, so plan on visiting the Hoofbeat Ridge Ranch. You can’t miss the Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame in Hayward because the building is a 4 1/2 story high Muskie!

Meet the owners: Larry and Tammy.
Larry and Tammy met at a Bible study in Dillon, Montana, when I was playing college football and she was decorating college apartments. We were just friends for a few months, but I knew I wanted to marry her from the moment I met her. So, one day, I skipped the dating phase and went straight to proposing. She said yes, and we were married in August of 1985.
Over the past 33 years of marriage, Tammy and I have raised five biological children and adopted two kids. We also became guardians over a mentally handicapped woman. So, our family has grown to a total of 10 people.
We're excited to continuously improve Legacy Lodge for our guests.
