Tiger Cat Chalet in Hayward, WI, is a year-round getaway situated near the water on the shore of scenic Lake Placid. This beautifully maintained, modern vacation home makes the most of its Up North setting with a huge deck running the width of the house on the lake-facing side. Settle in with a glass of wine to watch the sunset over the lake and the eagles soaring overhead.
This two-story Northwoods cabin getaway has three bedrooms with sleeping space for seven. The master bedroom is located on the first floor and is furnished with a queen-sized bed. Two guest rooms on the upper level have a second queen and a twin bed in one, and a full-sized bed in the other. Each bedroom has access to a full bath on the same floor.
The cabin’s main living areas are clustered on the first floor, with a connecting kitchen dining room and sitting room. Large windows in all three rooms fill the space with natural light and provide lovely views of the lake. The kitchen is fully equipped with dishware and modern appliances. The sitting room has satellite TV and a stone-surround wood-burning fireplace.
Tiger Cat Chalet cultivates a rustic, secluded Northwoods vibe, while still offering the comforts of a modern home and easy access to local restaurants and attractions. The cabin faces Lake Placid to the west, with 150 feet of private shoreline and a sandy swimming area. This home is open year-round with access to hiking, biking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, ATVs and snowmobiles — not to mention fishing direct from our property in warmer months, or out on the ice in winter.
Lake Placid is considered one of the Hayward area’s “best kept secrets” by locals. As part of the Tiger Cat Chain of Lakes, it connects to Burns Lake, McClaine Lake, the Upper and Lower Twin Lakes, and the Tiger Cat Flowage. This cabin is also just a 12-minute commute from downtown Hayward, Wisconsin, where you can visit the local shops, restaurants and casino.

The wife and I with our good friends had a very nice relaxing stay at the Tiger Cat Chalet. The cabin is in a very quiet area and loved sitting out on the deck. The caretaker of the property came midweek to make sure everything was good and to take the garbage/recycling away. He lived in the area and had some other ideas of sights to see why we were there. We always look forward to our up north trips and hope to return very soon.
This cabin is great! We had 3 couples and it was just the right amount of space for all of us. Beautiful property. We took the 2 canoes out around the lake one day. Us girls went for a walk every day. Such a nice community. We did have a bear come and visit us on the last might of our stay and dragged one of the garbage cans halfway up into the woods! Guess he was just hungry. Would definitely stay here again if in the area.
We could not have been more pleased with the cabin, lake and all that this place had to offer.
We loved our week at the Tiger Cat Chalet. Spent most of the time on the deck, on the water or hiking. Took some time to explore Hayward on rainy days. The management staff was communicative and accommodating. The house is set up nicely with a nice sized kitchen and most of what you need for on site meal preparation. As mentioned in other reviews, there is sometimes a slight smell from the sewer when you are on the pier or by the fire pit. The water in the lake is clean and clear, though somewhat weedy. Overall, we had a lovely time and would definitely stay there again.
The cabin was great! The upstairs a/c was really loud, we were able to. Intact Craig, and he was great! Problem solved!
The cabin was very nice, clean, well outfitted and had a beautiful view of the lake from the deck. We brought our boat and had fun exploring the lake and nearby channel. Although a smaller lake, it was fine for boat rides and pleasantly quiet. Cabin was really comfortable and nearby Hayward was fun on a couple of rainy days. Loons greeted us often, we'd go again!
We enjoyed staying at this cabin. It is well taken care of and very clean. All appliances are new and we were pleasantly surprised to find a washer and dryer when we arrived. This wasn't mentioned in the description. Bath and Kitchen towels were also in the cabin. All bedding was new. The lake isn't a huge lake but didn't matter since we did not bring our own boat. The use of the two canoes was great. We learned there wasn't a way to access round lake from this lake. It is a very quiet spot. If you're looking for relaxation this is it.
This place was perfect for our group! Loved the big deck to hang out on & so close to the water! The bedrooms were big & it had basically everything we needed for our stay! The fire pit area was very nice too! Would go back!
