Deer Stop is a picturesque northern Wisconsin getaway settled on the shore of Lost Land Lake in the Chequamegon/Nicolet National Forest. This cozy, two-bedroom one-bath is ideal for tourists, fishermen and other adventurers looking for a traditional experience in the Northwoods.
The cabin interior is designed to showcase that Northwoods charm, with quilted bed covers, real log paneling, hardwood floors and hand-lettered signed. Guests will love the wilderness view that shines through the sliding glass doors that connect the sitting room and the back deck, as well as the artfully “used” furniture.
The living area includes a plush sofa, several comfortable chairs and a wall-mounted flat-screen TV, as well as a dining area set for five and a fully equipped, modern kitchen. Along with the usual appliances, dinnerware and cookware, the kitchen offers a large clean workspace with a breakfast bar and three stools.
Sleeping arrangements: Two private bedrooms at Deer Stop are furnished with three twin-sized bed and one full-sized bed — two mattresses in each room.
NOTE: Towels are not provided at this property.
Guests at Deer Stop enjoy an up-close and personal view of the 1,300-acre Lost Land Lake, as well as access to the connected Teal Lake. This means easy access to great fishing, a sandy beach area, a swim raft and a shared fish-cleaning house. Please note: Lost Land Lake is categorized as a no-wake zone to preserve the surrounding wildlife habitat.
Lost Land Lake Lodge is within walking distance from Deer Stop. The lodge houses a full-service bar and restaurant.
Besides swimming and fishing for musky, panfish, bass, walleye and pike in Lost Land Lake, guests at Deer Stop will find plenty to do in the Hayward area. Hayward is a popular year-round tourist destination with a huge selection of family-friendly attractions and experiences. Visitors can hike and explore in the national forests or take winding bike tours on quiet country roads. If you’re quiet, you are likely to run across some local wildlife, which could include, whitetail deer, black bears, bald eagles, timber wolves, otters, elk, beavers or loons.
Hayward is home to the CAMBA trails, offering hundreds of miles of scenic space for hiking, biking and trail running, and hosts famous annual events such as the Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival, the Mt. Borah Epic, the Chequamegon 100, the Fat Tire Birkie and the Seeley Lions Pre-Fat. These trials are kept well-groomed in all seasons. Trail info as well as equipment rentals can be found at the local New Moon Bike & Ski — not to mention skiing and paddling events.
Hayward also boasts an extensive collection of local restaurants and tavern, live music venues, beautiful golf courses, homemade ice cream, and some unique museums. Spend an afternoon with the family exploring the National Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame, the Lumberjack Village or the Sawyer County Historical Society, or plan your trip around a seasonal festival such as the Lumberjack World Championships, the Sawyer County Fair or Musky Fest.

No Off Season Rentals (October-May)
During peak season (Memorial Day through Labor Day), Deer Stop rents on a weekly-only basis. Weekly rentals run Saturday to Saturday.
Sales tax of 5.5 percent will be added to all rental rates, along with a $79.13 booking fee (includes tax).
A $100 cleaning fee to be added to all rentals.
A refundable damage deposit of half the rent is required on the day of arrival.
