This setting was all we had hoped for and more. We all had a blast and hated to leave. In the early morning my wife and I would sit out on the back porch/deck with our coffee watching the woods and lake until our kids would come to life. We spent the days fishing, swimming, tubing, and relaxing. Evenings were spent around the fire pit by the lake having a few drinks and enjoying family conversation and company and the star filled sky. The rustic cabin, which is stocked much better than we would have expected, and secluded location were a perfect fit for us. The lakefront is very nice, and the water is shallow enough for quite a distance that some nice pan fish were caught by just wading out from the shore with a rod and reel. Eagles were seen often and sometimes in a tree overlooking the dock. Sally checked in with us a few times and was helpful and delightful to talk to. We met Zeke before we left and enjoyed talking with him as well. We were already planning on coming back long before we left. Thanks to Sally and Zeke for such a great cabin and the fantastic week we had. Donald K.
Perfect fall trees with canopy of green and yellow leaves give you the privacy anyone would want yet 10-minute drive to the main highway. Found some treasures at the local antique store and visited Veteran Falls (small but pretty). Owner was friendly. The cabin has all the kitchen necessities and a charcoal grill outside (bring charcoal). Fire pit is just down the hill at the small lake access area. Screened porch would be perfect if it was a rainy day. It had a foosball table which we reminisced playing a few games. We would return. Thank you Sally. Shannon R.
My husband and I, along with our 2 dogs, stayed here an early fall weekend. The pictures don't do the cabin justice. Such a remote and beautiful location, the cabin was immaculate, saw a few deer, and in the morning the sun filtered through the trees as you looked down to the water down the hill. So lovely by the shore. Close to Governor Thompson State Park, which was great for short to medium-length hikes. On Saturday afternoon it rained, but we just relaxed and had a fire inside (wood is already stocked and ready to go)! Wonderful hosts, wonderful getaway. We are coming back next year! Christine S.
This was our first stay at Hilltop. We began planning our next stay after our first night there. It was everything Sally described. Peaceful, quiet and private. We had a great time fishing, hiking and just relaxing. Owners Sally and Zeke were very nice. Thank You for a great weekend!! Colleen B.
Our first stay at the Hilltop and what a delight! The deep woods setting is nature at its best - a picture worth painting. The cabin was wonderful and so very comfortable. The interior is lovely, the kitchen is a delight (compared to most vacation rentals) — well equipped and clean, the stone fireplace is an added bonus to relax by, the overall cabin is five stars! The lake has a sandy bottom. Cindy

My husband and I own a cabin at the end of the 2-mile-long driveway. We recently moved up here so we could spend more time fishing, hunting, reading, gardening and plain old sitting back with friends.
We had previously looked at properties on other lakes and didn't like how the houses were crammed in. Thankfully, through friends, we heard about our property in 1995. TreeHaven was originally owned by my father from 2000-2002, at which time we inherited it. Since we enjoyed the north woods, we decided to share our good fortune with others and use TreeHaven as a rental. Personally, I have many fond memories of “going up north” with my family as a child and just want to provide that same opportunity for others. Our goal is for other families to make their own north woods memories.
