Sawyer Harbor Retreat is a three-bedroom, two-bathroom waterfront cottage that sits on Sawyer Harbor. Think of our cottage as your own little private oasis to escape to when you are feeling overwhelmed with your everyday life. This cottage is large enough to accommodate larger groups over an extended period of time. Our modern yet cozy décor will blow you away!
The kitchen area downstairs is fully equipped with all of the basic essentials that you may need to cook up those yummy family dinners! Also, you won’t have to worry about being cramped while cooking, because our countertop space will give you plenty of room to serve any dish buffet style! We wanted our cooking area to have that open feel to it, with the natural light coming in through the windows.
The living room area has a comfy couch and multiple chairs to sit on! There is also a flat screen tv located above the fireplace! Can you see it now? Picture you and your family enjoying a nice movie after a long day of fun!
There is a king-sized bed in the master bedroom with fresh linens, and a comfortable queen-sized bed in our guest room. We also have a sleeping loft that is the perfect spot for the kiddos to sleep! It can sleep up to ten people!
Sawyer Harbor Retreat Cottage in Wisconsin has a lot of land—perfect for the kiddos to run around and play! Our modern cottage offers a fire pit, hammock and even a private dock! So, feel free to bring kayaks or canoes and enjoy a relaxing day in the harbor! We also provide an outdoor grill and have an outdoor seating area too. Think of it this way, you’ll get to enjoy a beautiful sunset while eating a delicious meal!
Sawyer Harbor Retreat is located just south of Sturgeon Bay and a minute drive to the Idlewild golf course! Yes golfers, we are talking to you! The retreat is also near Potawatomi State Park! This park is perfect for hiking, fishing, and even camping! Your family will surely have loads of fun exploring everything that nature has to offer and experience all of the breathtaking views too! Also, don’t forget to snap that selfie!
If this is more of an adult only trip, (wink wink) check out the “Starboard Brewing Company” and enjoy cold beers and beautiful landscapes. If beers aren’t your thing, that’s okay too! Hit up the “Red Oak Winery,” and sip some of the finest wine WI has to offer!
There are also top-notch local art galleries to check out and live entertainment can even be found in the local theater! There is also a trolley that you and your family or friends can get on and explore/learn more about the city!
This cottage is great for not only family getaways but also couples’ getaways and even work retreats! Don’t worry, convenient stores, hair salons, barber shops, restaurants, bars and gas stations are all nearby too!

Our stay in Sturgeon Bay was perfect because we had this amazing property to use as our home base camp for all things Door County! The home is perfectly appointed with all the necessities including games, many cooking necessities, plenty of pillows and throws, and so much more! The outdoor space is huge and draws the family outdoors instead of staring at screens from the sofa! We played bags, bocce ball, disc golf and more all day (Disclaimer - we brought all of our own outdoor games; I don’t want to mislead anyone!) then chilled out by the fire after dusk. The hosts were very accommodating and were swift with communications. This home was the perfect place for our families to hang out, eat well, play hard, and relax, both inside and by the campfire. Our family of five spent a perfect 3-day weekend in Door County and the beautiful Sawyer Harbor Retreat was absolutely ideal. The lovely and well-appointed home is perfectly situated in a bucolic area just a few miles from the town of Sturgeon Bay. (Great dining and shopping there! We even caught a play at the Third Avenue Playworks.) Our kids loved seeing the wildlife on the harbor right out of our window -- and playing catch on the immense and lovely grass backyard. We were fortunate to experience this property for nearly a week in July for a family vacation retreat. Check-in was a breeze, there was ample parking, and the owners even left us a note and a few chocolates. The home is very well appointed with furniture, ample accommodations to sleep a large number of guests, and is decorated tastefully. The truth is, however, the highlight of this property is the outdoor experience it offers. Our days were spent exploring all that Door County has to offer. Our evenings were spent around the fire pit, listening to the sounds of the waterfowl, or watching foxes and deer walk past our lawn chairs. There are a couple of grills for outdoor chefs to enjoy, a hammock to lounge in, and even a selection of kayaks and canoes to noodle about in. We really appreciated our stay—we had children and senior citizens with us—and everyone had a delightful time at this property and looks forward to visiting again. By Rebeka R
