Beach House Overlooking Lake MI is located just four miles from the waterfront town of Algoma, where visitors with find a larger, public sand beach, as well as marinas and excellent fishing. Algoma is known as one of the top salmon-fishing capitals of the world, and is also home to plentiful rainbow, brown and lake trout.
Tourists to Algoma can enjoy swimming and fishing on Crescent Beach or take a walk and cast a line on the boardwalk. From its end, you can find unparalleled, panoramic views of the Algoma lighthouse. If you are an early riser, the whole area is celebrated for its spectacular sunrises over the water, giving the cold waters of Lake Michigan a hopeful, rosy hue. Algoma is home to many unique shops and locally owned restaurants, as well as to Michigan’s oldest operating winery. Visitors will love hiking and biking on the National Ice Age Trail or exploring the famous Ahnapee Trail head (located just one mile from the beach house). These trails are open year-round and can also accommodate snowmobilers and cross-country skiers. Local fitness and recreation facilities are available to renters, including public tennis courts and several golf courses.
Algoma is also considered by some to be the gateway to the popular tourist destination of Door County, which is roughly a 30-minutes’ drive from the beach house. There, visitors can enjoy art galleries, museums, more exciting shops and restaurants, and the White Fish Dunes State Park. Vacationing near the great lakes is a winning experience in all seasons — dig a classic bonfire pit in the sand on the beach or drill a hole through the ice for winter fishing. However, some of the best views come around in autumn, when the foliage is at peak color. Plan for a scenic drive through the countryside or bundle up for a crisp fall day in a rented sailboat.

The house was great! Amazing views from every room in the house. Clean and nicely decorated. Jane was informative and helpful from the very first time I contacted her on. Thank you for everything Jane! We appreciate you opening your home and plan on coming back every year!— Kathy H., Aug. 2016
This was our third time visiting this wonderful beach house across the street from Lake Michigan. The view is spectacular and every room in the house has large windows overlooking the lake. The house is warm and inviting and decorated very nicely in a seaside motif. We love coming to “our spot” in Algoma. The rooms are spacious and bright with a cozy, homey feeling. Thank you so much Jane for sharing your home with us!— Kathleen K., Oct. 2014
The house was beautiful and had a wonderful view of the lake. The screen porch is on the 2nd floor and has a hammock and it gets a nice breeze from the lake that cools down the whole house for great sleeping. It was a little further south than I originally thought but within a couple hours’ drive of the tip of the peninsula, and since we were on a bike trip it allowed for some good day rides. There is also a great winery and some good shopping in and around Algoma. We were very pleased with our stay and Jane was responsive and informative.— Heather, July 2013
