Traditional "Northwoods" cabin built in the '50' s, upgraded in 2020. Very private property on a semi-private spring fed lake with a sandy beach. Great bass and panfish fishing from the pier or from the rowboat. Right on the Manitowish Waters bike paths that span over 40 miles. Our cabin is fully equipped with everything that you need except beach towels! There is no central AC, but portable air conditioning units are available in the cabin. We are only 1 mile from downtown MW and a short walk from Ye Ol' Shillelagh bar/restaurant. Perfect spot to unplug and be one with nature.
My father and grandfather built this cabin in the late 1950's. We upgraded last summer, but chose to keep the integrity of the original structure. If you want complete privacy and serenity, this is your spot!
Great fishing lake! Catch bass and panfish!
Dog Lake is the kind of Northwoods water that makes you slow down on purpose. It’s a petite little lake, and since it’s no‑motor, the soundtrack stays blissfully simple: paddle dips, pine needles in a breeze, and that far-off “loon laugh” that sounds like wilderness gossip. Slide your canoe or kayak into the water, explore the shoreline at your own pace, and try your luck fishing for panfish and largemouth bass—then call it a win when sunset starts doing its color show.
When you’re ready to roam beyond your own quiet lake, Manitowish Waters is basically a choose‑your‑own‑adventure book written in lakes and trees. The area is known for a chain of 10 lakes (big enough to keep you happily “lost” all week), and it connects with stretches of the Manitowish River—easy, quiet-water paddling that feels like you slipped into the mellowest side of the Northwoods.
On dry land, you’ve got miles of trails for the classic Northwoods pastime of “let’s go for a short walk” (two hours later: still walking, still happy). Cruise the paved Heart of Vilas County trail segment through Manitowish Waters, swing by the North Lakeland Discovery Center for forest-and-bog wandering, and keep WinMan Trails in your back pocket for big rides, hikes, and winter “silent sports” like skiing and snowshoeing. Then loop back into town for low-key shops, a casual bite, and whatever local event happens to be on the calendar.

I grew up on this property and attended Manitowish Waters Grade School and Lakeland Union High School. The peaceful feeling that overcomes you on this property is difficult to describe...it must be experienced! This is our only rental property, so we manage it very well.
