Fireside North (the right side of our cozy duplex) has long been a favorite for families with little ones in tow. Nestled quietly at the heart of our three-acre property in Ephraim, this cottage feels tucked away and peaceful—yet you’re just steps from all the action. From the front deck, you’ll have the perfect perch to sip your morning coffee or evening cocktail while the kids explore the Rainbow playset within easy view. This is the only unit that faces the interior of the grounds, giving it a warm, communal vibe and a true sense of place.
Inside, you’ll find a welcoming living room with a full-size wood-burning fireplace and comfy furniture for curling up on cooler Door County evenings. The large flat-screen TV comes equipped with a Fire Stick, and we’ve stocked the place with board games for nights of screen-free fun. A wall AC unit on the first floor and a window unit upstairs keep things cool in summer, and the new recliner and ottoman invite you to truly kick back and relax.
Upstairs are two bedrooms—one with a queen and the other with two twins—each freshly updated with new headboards, nightstands, and dressers as of 2025. The full bathroom is also upstairs, conveniently located between the two rooms. Outside, enjoy your own picnic table, a private Weber grill, and plenty of shade under the towering trees. There’s even a hammock with your name on it—ideal for a lazy afternoon with a good book and a breeze.
What makes Fireside North so special is its balance of family-friendliness and quiet charm. Unlike our other cottages, this one faces inward, creating a more intimate connection with the surrounding property. You’re right in the middle of things without feeling crowded—and it’s easy to keep an eye on little adventurers while still savoring a moment to yourself.
The 2025 refresh brought thoughtful updates throughout the cottage, including cheerful new decor, a fresh coat of paint, and new furnishings in both bedrooms. We also added a brand-new stove in the kitchen, so whether you're flipping pancakes for breakfast or searing steaks for dinner, you’ll be working with upgraded appliances that make vacation cooking a little more enjoyable.
Our guests especially love the cozy gathering spots—whether it's beside the stone fireplace on a chilly night, on the deck under the stars, or swinging gently in the hammock as birdsong echoes through the trees. Fireside North offers that rare mix of creature comforts and rustic serenity, with just the right amount of polish to feel like home—but better.
Right outside your door, there’s plenty to enjoy without ever leaving the property. Let the kids burn off energy on the playground while you grill dinner and set the picnic table for an easy al fresco meal. Bring along your favorite book or pick one from our little library shelf and settle into the hammock. After dark, stargazing from the deck is a must—Ephraim’s night skies are something else.
When you’re ready to explore, head down to the Ephraim waterfront for kayaking, paddleboarding, or simply a walk along Eagle Harbor. Don’t miss Anderson Dock, where generations of visitors have left their painted marks, or a visit to the charming Hardy Gallery. For hiking, Eagle Trail in Peninsula State Park is a favorite—just a short drive away and packed with scenic bluffs and hidden coves.
Hungry? Wilson’s Ice Cream Parlor is a Door County institution, and a trip there is practically a rite of passage. For a grown-up evening out, grab a table at Trixie’s or sip a cocktail at SIP in Sister Bay. And if you’re visiting in summer or fall, keep an eye out for Ephraim’s Fyr Bal Festival or a show at the Northern Sky Theater—both offer unforgettable local flavor.

Our cottages are available from May 21 through November 1, with a three-night minimum stay during the shoulder seasons and a four‑night minimum in July and August. A one-time cleaning fee of $100 per stay is required. Check-in is no earlier than 3:00 p.m. and check-out is a firm 10:00 a.m. Reservations can be made by phone or email (preferred), and we also offer an online reservation portal on our website. All reservations require a 50% deposit due within two weeks of booking, with the balance due upon arrival. Payment may be made by cash or check (preferred), or by credit card, and all reservations must have a credit card on file.
The cottage was very clean and very comfortable. Amenities such as cable, coffee, hair dryer and personal care products were outstanding. The fire pit area looked fun. A great place to stay when visiting Door County.

Hi, we’re Daryl and Ruann Larson—your hosts at Ephraim Village Cottages. This is our sixth season welcoming guests to a place that’s deeply personal to us. My grandparents first laid down roots here in Ephraim with the original Larson Cottages, and in the late ’60s, my parents continued that legacy by opening Meadowview Cottages. In 2020, Ruann and I were blessed to bring the family tradition full circle when we became the third generation to care for this special property.
Today, we’ve reimagined it as Ephraim Village Cottages—a peaceful retreat where guests can relax, reconnect, and feel right at home. Ruann brings her heart and talents as a sign language interpreter, and together we’re hands-on in making sure every stay is meaningful. Whether you’re sipping coffee on the porch, gathering by the firepit, or just enjoying the charm of Door County, we want you to feel like part of our extended family.
