Welcome to Fireside South (Left Side), your cozy Door County getaway tucked into the heart of Ephraim. This side of our charming duplex is a longtime favorite for families with young kids—and it’s easy to see why. While you unwind on the deck with your morning coffee or an evening drink, the kids can run off their energy on the Rainbow playground just steps away. The cottage overlooks our peaceful central garden, a lovely green space where flowers bloom and birds chatter all day long.
Inside, the cottage is warm and welcoming, with recent updates that give each room a fresh, cheerful feel. We added new headboards, bureaus, and nightstands in both bedrooms, plus a cozy recliner and armchair in the living area—perfect for winding down after a day of Door County adventures. A full-size fireplace anchors the space, making it feel extra snug during cooler evenings. Game night is always on the table here, with a stack of board games and a large flat-screen TV ready for movie marathons.
Out back, your private deck gives you a front-row seat to the shared fire pit and our tree-shaded yard. It’s a great place to read, nap in a hammock, or fire up the Weber grill for a cookout. As the sun sets, gather around the fire for s'mores and stargazing, or just enjoy the quiet hum of summer nights in Ephraim. Whether you're here for a long weekend or a full week away, Fireside South feels like a true Door County escape.
What sets Fireside South apart is its unbeatable location on the property. Just two cottages overlook our interior courtyard, and this one gives you the best vantage point of both the flower-filled garden and the action on the playground. You can keep an eye on the kids while still enjoying a peaceful, grown-up moment on the deck. The entire cottage feels like it's part of a small village where neighbors wave and songbirds greet you each morning.
The updated interior design is both functional and charming. The queen and twin bedrooms upstairs each have brand-new furnishings that brighten up the space and add to the comfort. The mix of classic cottage style with refreshed decor makes this unit feel lived-in in the best way—like your favorite family lake house that just got a little makeover. Even the smallest details, like the new armchair perfectly placed near a sunny window, were chosen to help you relax.
Another hidden gem? Fireside South is one of the few places in the area that combines that old-school Door County vibe with modern comforts and a walkable location. You're tucked away on three wooded acres, but you’re also just a short drive or bike ride from Ephraim’s waterfront, ice cream shops, and galleries. That mix of seclusion and convenience is hard to come by—and once guests find us, they tend to come back year after year.
Right outside your door, you’ll find the simple joys that make cabin life so special: hammocks swinging under the trees, the flicker of the fire pit at dusk, and kids laughing from the playground. Bring your favorite book, pack a deck of cards, and enjoy the kind of slow-paced vacation that lets you really reconnect. Grill out under the stars or sip something warm on the deck while the morning birds put on a concert.
For adventures beyond the yard, hop in the car or on a bike and head to downtown Ephraim, just minutes away. The waterfront is perfect for kayaking or watching sailboats drift by. Stop at Wilson's for a root beer float, browse local art at the Anderson Dock galleries, or rent a paddleboard and explore Eagle Harbor. Don’t miss the Ephraim Historical Foundation tours for a peek into the village’s past.
Nature lovers can hike at Peninsula State Park—a must-visit with its scenic overlooks, bike trails, and Eagle Tower. In the summer, grab tickets for an outdoor show at the Peninsula Players Theatre or enjoy live music at the Ephraim Fyr Bal Festival in June. There’s always something happening just around the corner.
Ready to make some memories? Fireside South is the kind of place where stories are shared around the fire and traditions begin. Send us a message to book direct and skip the extra fees on Airbnb or VRBO—we can’t wait to welcome you.

We had a fantastic stay at the cottages. The hosts are great and the property is beautifully decorated. It’s within walking distance to the beach and shopping/dining. Dogs are welcome and that is truly wonderful. Our stay was during the fall so there weren’t many other guests, but it was a very quiet stay! We will definitely be back! Tracy Lyyn
Clean housekeeping cottages in the heart of Ephraim my family has come every year for the past 40 years!! We love this place! Margie Weides
Everything is so nice and clean, the Host and Hostess are absolutely Great. Close to everything.. It's a must stay when in Door County. Ruth Kubiak
Our three night stay at Ephraim Village Cottages was wonderful and restorative. Just prior to our stay my wife and I completed the 1200 mile Ice Age Trail and needed to rest. Not only were the accommodations cozy, cute, and comfortable, but also our hosts were genuinely caring and hospitable. In addition to resting and getting to explore Ephraim and the surrounding towns we got to give a fireside talk about our hike around the fire pit with about 18 other people. I highly recommend Ephraim Village Cottages for your next Door County vacation. Greg Seymour

Hi, we’re Daryl and Ruann Larson—your hosts at Ephraim Village Cottages. This is our sixth season welcoming guests to a place that’s deeply personal to us. My grandparents first laid down roots here in Ephraim with the original Larson Cottages, and in the late ’60s, my parents continued that legacy by opening Meadowview Cottages. In 2020, Ruann and I were blessed to bring the family tradition full circle when we became the third generation to care for this special property.
Today, we’ve reimagined it as Ephraim Village Cottages—a peaceful retreat where guests can relax, reconnect, and feel right at home. Ruann brings her heart and talents as a sign language interpreter, and together we’re hands-on in making sure every stay is meaningful. Whether you’re sipping coffee on the porch, gathering by the firepit, or just enjoying the charm of Door County, we want you to feel like part of our extended family. "May your stay be in a peaceful and secure dwelling in an undisturbed place of rest." – Isaiah 32:18.
