This ground-level apartment has a queen bedroom and a comfortable queen sofa sleeper to accommodate up to four guests. A private coded entrance opens into the living area where large sliding doors frame the lake view and lead to your private deck and lawn. Tastefully decorated with nautical touches and local artwork, the suite is clean, bright and air-conditioned.
The fully equipped mini-kitchen includes a stovetop, sink, mini-refrigerator, dishwasher and cooking essentials for preparing light meals. A dining table overlooks the water, and there is a separate seating area for reading, watching a movie or just gazing at the ever-changing lake. A full bathroom has a walk-in shower and plenty of plush towels. Wi-Fi, television, heating and cooling, board games, books and enhanced cleaning practices are included to ensure a relaxing stay.
Outside, the landscaped lawn slopes gently to Island View Lodging’s private beach on Lake Superior. Guests can fish from the bank, launch their kayaks from the beach, enjoy a swim in the clear water or unwind on the lawn chairs provided. In the evening, watch the moon rise over Madeline and Basswood Islands while enjoying a fire in the firepit. Parking next to the suite makes unloading easy, and a second vehicle or trailer can be accommodated with advance notice. Outdoor grill use and dining space are available upon request.
Fedora is one of only two suites at Island View Lodging, offering an intimate, low-traffic retreat just a mile north of Bayfield. Each suite has a private entrance and its own deck with unobstructed lake views. Because there are only two units on the property, guests enjoy a large lakeside lawn, private beach access and quiet nights under the stars. The suite’s mini-kitchen is thoughtfully stocked with cookware, dishware, wine glasses and a coffee/tea maker – perfect for morning breakfasts or evening appetizers with a view.
Another unique feature is the celebration package offered by the owners. For an additional fee, guests celebrating a birthday or anniversary can arrange to have a cake, balloons, local chocolates and flowers waiting in the suite upon arrival. A stay at Fedora places you within minutes of Bayfield yet far enough away to enjoy the quiet of the north woods. Island View Lodging is on the shoreline of Lake Superior’s South Shore and is part of the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore. Guests can kayak directly from the property to explore the nearby shoreline or launch from the Bayfield marina for guided kayaking excursions to the sea caves and islands. Fishing, pier fishing and swimming are all steps from your door.
Bayfield’s charming downtown is one mile south and features cafés, farm-to-table restaurants, boutiques and an artist community. Ferries and tour boats leave the Bayfield Marina daily for the Apostle Islands and Madeline Island, where you can hike, bike or shop for local art. In season, pick berries and apples at local orchards or rent bikes to explore the Brownstone Trail. Winter visitors can snowshoe or cross-country ski on nearby trails.
The surrounding region is a paradise for outdoor lovers. Hike to waterfalls in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, bike along scenic country roads or simply enjoy bird watching and star gazing from your private deck.
