Whitetail Crossing is a recently renovated Northwoods cabin designed for families and friends who want to experience the lakes, forests and trails of Vilas County. The single-level home offers about 1,400 square feet of thoughtfully furnished living space with three large bedrooms and a full bath. A coat room off the back deck opens into an open-concept kitchen, dining area, bar and great room, so you can cook and entertain without missing a moment of conversation.
Step outside to a generous wrap-around deck that serves as your second living room. This elevated space includes a conversation area and dining area with a gas grill overlooking mature pines, a small pond and a trickling waterfall. When you’re ready for an aquatic adventure, stroll or drive down to our private dock on the Big St. Germain Lake chain – 1,880 acres of water for swimming, boating and fishing.
We outfitted Whitetail Crossing with modern amenities – central heating and air conditioning, a fully appointed kitchen and reliable Wi-Fi – but its appeal is still the natural setting. Watch wildlife from the deck, gather around the fire pit under a canopy of stars and let the sounds of the Northwoods lull you to sleep. Our cabin is walking distance from Lake Content and minutes from all the services in St. Germain, yet secluded enough for true relaxation.
One of the features our guests rave about is the expansive wrap-around deck. Elevated above the forest floor, it’s the perfect place to sip morning coffee, share meals and tell stories long into the evening. The deck looks out over a private pond with a trickling waterfall, creating a calm background soundtrack that is unique to Whitetail Crossing.
Another highlight is our direct access to both water and trail. Guests enjoy exclusive use of a private dock on the Big St. Germain Lake chain as well as immediate access to the Heart of Vilas County 52-mile paved bike trail and the Bo-Boen snowmobile trail from the driveway. The walk-out lower level is being finished to add a recreation room, second bath and fourth bedroom, and larger groups can pair this cabin with our adjacent Eagles Bluff home for even more space.
Start your vacation by exploring the lake. Bring your boat or rent one in town and use our private dock to launch into the Big St. Germain Lake chain for fishing, watersports and swimming. In the evening, roast marshmallows in the fire pit and count shooting stars – you might even catch a glimpse of the northern lights.
For cyclists and hikers, the Heart of Vilas County paved trail passes right by the property. The trail connects to dozens of miles of riding through forests, wetlands and charming communities. Just three‑quarters of a mile down the road you’ll find the Awassa Nature Preserve and Hiking Trail with its quiet loops through old‑growth pines, and the St. Germain Golf Course is a two‑minute drive for those who prefer greens and fairways.
Winter brings a new set of adventures. Our driveway provides direct access to the Bo‑Boen snowmobile trail, one of Wisconsin’s premier groomed trail systems. Bundle up for snowshoeing or cross‑country skiing on nearby trails, or try your hand at ice fishing on Big St. Germain and Little St. Germain Lakes.
The town of St. Germain is only about a mile and a half away and offers a community park, playground, grocery store, bait shop and variety of restaurants. Rent kayaks or paddleboards, browse the local shops, attend seasonal festivals or make a day trip to the many attractions in Vilas and Oneida Counties. There is truly something for everyone in every season.

Rates are $317 per night plus taxes and fees, based on up to six guests. A three-night minimum stay is required. A 50% deposit is due at the time of booking, with the balance due 60 days prior to arrival. All rates are subject to Wisconsin sales tax and local room tax.
