The open main level brings the kitchen, dining area, and great room together around lake views and a gas fireplace. A king loft suite has its own walk-in shower, two main-floor bedrooms each offer a queen bed, and the lower bunk room sleeps six in three twin-XL bunk sets. Downstairs, the family room keeps rainy days competitive with a pool table, foosball, Golden Tee arcade game, smart TV, and high-speed WiFi. The fully equipped kitchen, air conditioning, and washer and dryer keep the practical side of vacation pleasantly uncomplicated.
Step outside to a large lake-view deck, a screened porch made for coffee without mosquito negotiations, and a shoreline fire pit for the nightly marshmallow conference. The private dock reaches Lac Courte Oreilles for swimming, fishing, and guest boats, while the sandy-bottom shoreline makes a welcoming place to cool off. A gas grill and parking for up to five vehicles round out the setup. Downtown Hayward is about 12 miles away, but back at Elk Run the agenda can be as simple as dock, deck, dinner, repeat.
Elk Run pairs the clean lines and comforts of a newly built home with the rituals that make a Wisconsin lake week memorable. Its east-facing position delivers bright mornings over Lac Courte Oreilles, while the screened porch, broad deck, and shoreline fire pit offer three different ways to slow down. The cabin sits in a small, peaceful bay on the lake's west end, with clear water, dock fishing, swimming, and boating available right outside.
Groups also get a smart separation of spaces. Adults can relax around the gas fireplace or cook together in the open kitchen while the lower-level game room hosts pool, foosball, Golden Tee, streaming, and the occasional rematch nobody officially requested. Two queen rooms, a king loft suite, and a six-person twin-XL bunk room make the sleeping plan especially well suited to multigenerational families and friends traveling together.
Lac Courte Oreilles is the main event. Bring a boat, cast from the private dock, swim in the clear water, or cruise out in search of the lake's popular sandbar. Public launches are available around the lake, and pontoon rentals may be reserved through the property manager on a first-come, first-served basis. Trails End Resort is a short boat ride away for food, drinks, and seasonal live music.
Drive about 12 miles to downtown Hayward for locally owned shops, restaurants, mini golf, and a stop at the Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame and Museum—home of the famously enormous musky. Hayward's candy shop is another family favorite, particularly for travelers who believe vacation fudge is a food group.
Golfers have several area courses to choose from, and the Lac Courte Oreilles casino and nearby dining spots make easy evening outings. Friday fish fries and classic Northwoods supper clubs are also part of the regional experience, so arriving hungry is considered good planning.
Beyond the lake, explore hiking and biking routes in the greater Hayward area and the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. Winter visitors can enjoy area trails and seasonal recreation, but Elk Run does not provide direct snowmobile-trail access from the property. After any outing, the screened porch, game room, fireplace, and shoreline fire pit are ready for the quieter half of the day.
