When I first arrived at Hidden Lake Escape, I knew it was something special. This cozy yet classy retreat sits along 150 feet of private shoreline on Trout Lake, a small private lake near Wisconsin Dells. Nestled among whispering pines, the cabin offers an inviting living area with a vaulted ceiling, large windows and a hidden reading nook. The fully stocked kitchen has everything I need to cook meals, from a full range and dishwasher to spices and cookware.

With two comfortable bedrooms and two full baths, the cabin easily accommodates family or friends. The master suite features a king bed, room‑darkening shades, ample storage and a spa‑like ensuite bath with double sinks. The second bedroom has a queen bed and shares a bathroom stocked with shampoo and other essentials. There’s even a hidden study and fast Wi‑Fi, so I can catch up on work or curl up with a good book and board games.

One of my favorite features is the outdoor living area. A private patio overlooks the lake and includes a dining table, gas grill and comfy seating. After a day of paddling the canoe or kayak on the lake, I love relaxing in the private hot tub or gathering around the fire pit under the stars. The home is secluded and peaceful yet just minutes from Interstate 90/94 and the attractions of Wisconsin Dells.

Unique Features

Hidden Lake Escape isn’t your typical cabin; it blends rustic charm with modern comforts. Inside, the vaulted ceiling, hidden study, fast 115 Mbps Wi‑Fi and dedicated workspace make it as functional as it is beautiful. The kitchen is stocked with dishes, appliances, and basic spices so I can prepare everything from a simple breakfast to a gourmet dinner. There’s free parking on premises, a private entrance and exterior security cameras for added peace of mind.

What truly sets this property apart is its setting on Trout Lake, a private lake that’s perfect for canoeing, kayaking and fishing but remains uncrowded and quiet because it isn’t open for swimming. I appreciate that the house is tucked away on a wooded lot with 150 feet of private shoreline, offering seclusion without sacrificing convenience. Long‑term stays up to 28 days are welcome, and because I book directly with the owner I avoid the high fees charged by third‑party sites.

Things To Do

During my stay, I spend mornings paddling the provided kayak or canoe across Trout Lake, watching loons and bald eagles. The lake is stocked with fish, so I bring a rod and reel in bluegill or bass from the private shoreline. In the afternoons, I soak in the hot tub or curl up in the hidden study with a board game. Evenings end around the fire pit roasting marshmallows or grilling dinner on the gas grill under the stars.

When I crave more adventure, Wisconsin Dells is only a short drive away. I explore famous water parks, ride the scenic boat tours on the Wisconsin River, and enjoy restaurants, shops and mini‑golf. For a quieter outing, I hike the sandstone bluffs at Rocky Arbor State Park or drive to Mirror Lake State Park, both offering trails and beautiful scenery.

Lyndon Station and nearby Mauston have local shops, supper clubs and groceries, while the Woodside Sports Complex hosts events year‑round. Golfers can hit the greens at Trapper’s Turn or Wild Rock courses, and in winter the area offers cross‑country ski trails and snowshoeing. No matter the season, Hidden Lake Escape provides a perfect home base to experience the best of central Wisconsin.

Rates vary with the season, but our standard rate is about $281 per night with a two‑night minimum. Weekly stays average around $1,967 and are discounted from the nightly rate. A 50% deposit reserves your dates; the balance is due 30 days before arrival and will include applicable state and local lodging taxes. We accept major credit cards through our secure online booking portal. Check‑in is after 4 p.m. and check‑out is by 10 a.m. Your stay includes linens, towels and cleaning at no extra fee. Please review our rental agreement for complete house rules and cancellation policies.
