Welcome to Whispering Pines, Shouting Rocks, my cozy log cabin retreat located on 3.36 wooded acres in Hancock, Wisconsin. Built in 1999, this 1,100‑square‑foot cabin offers the charm of a classic Northwoods getaway with modern conveniences. Inside you'll find one private bedroom plus a bunk room for kids and a loft sleeping nook, and two bathrooms including a full bath with a whirlpool tub. The main living area features a comfortable sitting area with an electric fireplace, open dining space and a fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher, oven and coffee machine. Air conditioning and central heating keep the cabin comfortable in any season, and high‑speed Wi‑Fi means you can stay connected while you relax.

The cabin sits on a quiet stretch of land bordered by Roche a Cri Creek, a trout stream that's perfect for casting a line. Outside you'll find a wraparound deck with a gas grill, a fire pit and a picnic area where you can enjoy cookouts under the pines. There's even a small playground with a slide for the kids. When the weather turns cool, the indoor whirlpool tub and electric fireplace offer a cozy alternative. Other amenities include a washer/dryer, a smart TV with Firestick streaming, a PlayStation 2 console and a collection of board games for rainy days.

Whether you're looking for a family getaway or a quiet couples' retreat, Whispering Pines, Shouting Rocks provides a peaceful place to reconnect with nature without sacrificing comfort.

Unique Features

One of my favorite things about this property is the outdoor space. The cabin sits on more than three acres of mature pines, offering privacy and the soothing sound of wind through the trees. A path leads down to Roche a Cri Creek, where you can wade in the cool water or try your luck at trout fishing. The yard includes a kids' playground with a slide, a sandbox, a fire pit for roasting marshmallows, and a gas grill and picnic table for outdoor meals.

Inside, the cabin is designed for both relaxation and play. The main living area features an electric fireplace and comfortable seating, while the loft serves as an extra sleeping nook with its own bed. There's a bunk bedroom ideal for children and a whirlpool tub in the bathroom for soaking after a day on the trails. Entertainment options include a PlayStation 2 console, board games, and a smart TV with Firestick. Pets are welcome, so you can bring along your four‑legged family member, and the cabin's private entrance and dedicated parking make coming and going a breeze.

Things To Do

On the property you'll find plenty to keep you busy. Spend the morning fishing for trout in Roche a Cri Creek or watch your kids burn off energy on the slide and playground. As the sun goes down, gather around the fire pit to roast s'mores and share stories under a canopy of stars. Inside, there's a library of board games and a PlayStation 2 console, so rainy days turn into game marathons. The cabin sits directly on a designated snowmobile and ATV/UTV trail, making it a perfect base camp for exploring central Wisconsin by motorized trail.

A quick drive away you'll discover Dyracuse Park, roughly 7½ miles from the cabin. This off‑road vehicle destination boasts more than 700 acres of riding trails, a sand bowl and UTV track, plus a splash pad and mini‑golf course for younger visitors. The area is dotted with lakes – Lake Arrowhead, Lake Sherwood and Castle Rock Lake are all within a short drive – so bring your boat or rent a kayak to enjoy a day on the water. Golfers can tee off at Lake Arrowhead Golf Course, Sand Valley Golf Course and Northern Bay Golf Course, all located within about 20 miles of the cabin.

Nature lovers will appreciate the diversity of nearby parks. Head to Roche‑a‑Cri State Park, about 12 miles away, to climb the 300‑foot rock outcropping, view ancient petroglyphs and explore more than five miles of hiking trails. Whistler Mounds Park offers a more serene experience, with winding trails through lush greenery and the chance to see prehistoric effigy mound. In the winter, these same trails are perfect for cross‑country skiing and snowshoeing.

If you're up for a day trip, the world‑famous attractions of Wisconsin Dells are about 40 miles south. Spend a day riding water slides, visiting museums or enjoying dinner shows, then return to your private cabin for a quiet evening in front of the fire. With so many possibilities, you'll never run out of ways to make memories at Whispering Pines, Shouting Rocks.
