Now that you've visited our personal website and know our availability, rates, and special offers hopefully you are ready to relax at our upscale 1½ story Ranch style lakehome with Western views and spectacular sunsets over 1304-acre Lost Land Lake; a Class-A musky lake! The view is even better from your private 40’ long dock with bench seat where you’ll likely be visited by bald eagles, loons, ducks, and great blue herons. The backyard gently slopes down to the lake and very few properties on the lake have beach/walk-in access for weed-free swimming with no drop-offs like we do.
Inside is a two-story river rock fireplace and open-floor plan perfect for entertaining, socializing, and special needs. West facing windows and French doors in the gourmet kitchen highlighted by the stainless appliances and large center island that seats four. Dining area features a large table for seating up to ten, a smaller toddler table that seats four little ones, and two booster seats plus one highchair for the smallest guests. There are views of the lake from almost every room! Step out onto the panoramic front screened porch for morning coffees and afternoon/evening cocktails. Take a few more steps to the outside fire pit. It’s not cabin time without evening conversation and S’mores around the bonfire pit- yard chairs, skewers, and firewood are all included!
Sleeping arrangements: Four good size bedrooms- all located on the first floor- no stairs to climb; three of the bedrooms are furnished with queen beds- two are master En-suite bedrooms, fourth bedroom has two twin beds. There is also an open bedroom loft with two twin beds that overlooks the Great Room (Note-mattresses can be placed side-by-side to create sleeping for four in loft, additional sheets/pillows provided). Two Pack-N-Play cribs are also available.
Close to the water! Only 50 feet from 183 feet of sugar sand beach. A private boat launch on premises is available depending on water level and your boat size/trailer type. There is a 14’ V-hull 4-seat Alumacraft boat included in the rental rate. Rent a boat motor, or pontoon boat from Wilson Bay Lodge 5 minutes from house. Bring your favorite grilling food too as gas and charcoal grills are provided.
Being 24 miles East of Hayward, WI when it’s time to take a break from the lake, plan to explore the charming and not too exploited downtown with its' unique shops, the National Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame, or a lumberjack show. Even the drive to town on The Great Scenic Byway (Rt 77) is... scenic and relaxing.
Whether you are an avid fisherman wanting to fish for musky, northern pike, walleye, largemouth and smallmouth bass, crappie, bluegill, or perch (they're all here!), nature lover, canoe or kayak enthusiast; Our Great Escape will take you back in time. The Chequamegon National Forest surrounds our Northwoods vacation rental and our two lake chain - yes, Lost Land Lake is connected by thoroughfare to 1049-acre Teal Lake! Together, they make up the “Quiet Lakes”. 10 mph speed limit and no motor sports are allowed. Teenagers and little ones will enjoy the fishing on either lake. In fact, they’ll spend hours fishing right from the dock. Slow & easy works well around here if stargazing, swimming, and lounging are part of your vacation plan.
Nearby are one-of-a-kind specialty and boutique shops, several dining clubs (Friday night fish fry), golf courses, horse back riding, and a casino. Since you book directly with me (Rob), I can give you some local tips for walking/biking trails, fishing reports, etc. Having a property manager who knows where to get answers comes in handy when you're looking for a bait shop, boat repair, fresh baked loaf of bread, old time candy store, homemade ice cream, local winery, etc. Our Great Escape is within driving distance of events like Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival, North Country Trail, Fall Fest, Wine Tasting, Musky Fest, weekly Lumberjack shows. And, in case you did not know, this is the “Golf Capital of Wisconsin” so bring your clubs.

Oh my goodness! OGE is the best! We’ve come here 3 times,starting in 2013
Our grandkids were young then and we enjoyed all the amenities/treats OGE offered. Slide, kiddie boosters and life jackets. Here we are in 2025. Grandkids are teenagers, and grandma and grandpa have aged. OGE is the perfect spot for our multi generational family! So many improvements since we first were here. Where do I begin? Improved, speedy WI FI for one. All new appliances: refrigerator, dishwasher, stove, microwave , Keurig cofffeemaker, all the pots and pans you need. OGE has plenty of space for you to be together or not. And, can’t forget the screened in porch. Heaven! No better place to enjoy the view of the lake, read, and simply veg- out. Old word I know. I’m the Grandma. OGE is heaven. Don’t pass it up. One more thing: the owner, Rob, is reachable ALWAYS and has worked hard to make OGE a premier vacation destination

Our extended family has been coming to OGE for more than a decade and it continues to be our favorite week of the year. The house is comfortable and clean, and even though the kids who were once small are now mostly adults, there is still plenty of space for all of us. The scenery is beautiful and we spend many hours sitting on the porch enjoying the view and the peace and quiet. Rob, the owner, works hard to make sure we have everything we need - the house is incredibly well-maintained. We particularly appreciated the upgraded internet this summer, which was noticeably better than in the past. A couple of us ended up having to work a few days while we were at the house, and even though we wished we weren't working on vacation, had it not been for the upgraded wifi my husband likely would have had to go home. We were very grateful for that change, and all noticed how much better it worked this year. The kitchen is spacious and well-appointed, and the open layout of the house makes it feel like there is plenty of space for everyone to be comfortable. For families with small children, this property is rare in that it has a gradual beach where small kids can swim right from the lawn which was so nice when our kids were younger. We absolutely love OGE!

We are former Wisconsinites who currently live in Florida and return every summer to visit family and friends. This was our first time renting this property and it was amazing. Really enjoyed how flat the property was from the house to the lake. No steps! Rob's excellent communication and attention to every possible detail was refreshing. We knew exactly what we were getting and had instructions for various scenarios if needed. The screened in porch was our favorite. We rented a pontoon boat for the entire two weeks and had a lot of fun fishing, swimming and just exploring both lakes. We would highly recommend this property.

We have been coming to the property for 3 years. It is like coming back home. The screened in porch is a perfect place for playing cards, taking naps and watching the activity on the water. The house is an open concept layout which is great for all ages. We have three generations that come up for the week. Fishing is great on the lakes.

OGE is a wonderful family friendly lake home perfect for our (or any) family with little ones. As a family with adult children and grandchildren we look for safety and fun. We have been blessed to stay here several times and have enjoyed every moment. We rent boats from Wilson Bay and being on a quiet lake makes it perfect for the little ones to play in the water. The shoreline is sandy and not deep so they can have fun. The little ones squeal with excitement every time they catch a bluegill off the dock. Additionally there is a playground and many small beach toys for added fun. We all enjoy the moments we get to spend together here at OGE. Watching the wildlife as you drink your morning coffee on the dock never gets old. Rob is so kind and easy to work with when making reservations and he checks in to be sure that everything is good when you arrive. Our kids and grandkids look forward to our summer week at OGE and we can’t wait for next year!

We love Hayward and have been vacationing there for many years staying at resorts and houses on different lakes. We love Lost Land Lake and 5 years ago we were blessed to find the perfect location for our family. We have been coming back every year since and already booked OGE for our 6th year.
The house and property are absolutely beautiful! The house is stocked with anything you could possibly need for cooking in the wonderful kitchen or on one of the grills (propane or charcoal). Games (board games, cards, corn hole, etc.), books, movies, puzzles, life jackets and many more amenities are also provided.
When we are not enjoying the water and the sandy shoreline or out in the boat fishing on the lake, we spend a lot of time in the large screen porch, always starting our day with coffee and ending the day watching the gorgeous sunsets with cocktails on the porch.
Rob is an extremely responsive host who does everything possible to ensure his guests have a truly memorable experience. We highly recommend booking a stay at Our Great Escape - you won’t be disappointed!
