Island View is a luxury log cabin in the woods near Nelson Lake and downtown Hayward, WI. This family cottage has a shaded, private yard, a boat dock, a fire pit, a sun deck and a screen porch — everything you need to make the most of your wilderness getaway in Wisconsin’s Northwoods.
The Island View cabin offers 2,600 square feet of furnished interior living space, with a social, open floor plan on the main level. This includes a large sitting room with a stone fireplace and a large flat-screen TV, a fully equipped modern kitchen with granite counter tops, a breakfast bar, new weber gas grill and a dining area with seating for six.
Three full bathrooms are available at Island View, with plenty of counter space and a combination tub and shower in two. Each of the three bedrooms at this lakefront cottage is located near a bathroom, making it convenient for families or other large groups to get ready for a day of exploring.
Sleeping arrangements: Bedroom one at Island View is furnished with a king-sized bed. Bedroom two is furnished with a queen-sized bed. Bedroom three has a twin-sized bed with a second twin-sized trundle mattress underneath. There is also a queen-sized pull-out couch bed in the living area.
NOTE: Towels are not provided at this property.
Island View has a large, private yard that slopes gently to a boat dock on the water’s edge. Guests can take the stairs down to the dock, where you can fish off the end. The cottage also has a bonfire ring with a view of the water, and a large, furnished screen porch with full-length windows on three sides.
Island View offers direct access to fishing and boating on Nelson Lake. The body of water covers 2,500 acres and harbors a large and varied population of game fish. The lake has a natural rock and sand bottom and is decent for swimming and wading.
This cabin is located just eight miles from downtown Hayward, where visitors can enjoy local shopping, great restaurants and several scenic golf courses. The greater Hayward area is home to more than 55,000 acres of lakes, offering endless boating, fishing, swimming, sailing and sandy beaches.
Hayward is also located near the Chequamegon Nicolet National Forest and the CAMBA trails, where visitors can enjoy hiking and mountain biking, trail running, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling. Visitors can also explore the Chippewa, Totagatic and Brule Rivers in paddle boats and tubes.
Roughly 70 percent of the surrounding wild land is open to the public for hunting, so you can plan your trip around the seasons for whitetail deer, ruffled grouse, waterfowl, turkey and snowshoe rabbit. Other regional favorites includes the historic Lumberjack Village or the National Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame.
