At Exeland Shores & Sunsets, the end of the day deserves a little room on the calendar. Our west-facing Windfall Lake frontage lets your group follow the light from the deck to the dock, then gather at the illuminated firepit as the lake darkens. With 250 feet of private shoreline, a sandy lake edge and four included kayaks, a summer afternoon can be as simple as choosing who paddles first.
Inside, five bedrooms and three full bathrooms accommodate up to twelve guests, including three king-bed sleeping spaces. Set out a family breakfast at the table for twelve, pack snacks for the water and leave time for a second cup before heading outside. The kitchen and living area keep the lake in view, so even the person on lunch duty stays part of the day.
There is plenty to do when the paddles come in. Start a pool match, try the arcade machines or challenge someone at shuffleboard, then head for the covered seven-seat hot tub overlooking the water. Our lower-level lounge gives the group another place to spread out. This is a year-round gathering place for people who enjoy a lively game room as much as a quiet stretch of shoreline.
Two bathrooms are en suite, and the sleeping arrangement includes king, queen and twin beds rather than bunks. The fifth bedroom is a flexible lower-level space with a king bed and additional sofa/futon sleeping options; the overall guest limit remains twelve. A reading nook under the stairs gives children a small retreat of their own, while Roku TVs and separate lounges help different generations settle into different evenings.
The covered lakeside deck creates an outdoor sitting and dining area sheltered overhead, with the hot tub below and a separate firepit closer to the water. The seasonal private dock is available for guests bringing a boat; launch at the public ramp rather than at the property. Four kayaks and life vests are provided, along with firewood for the firepit. A washer, dryer and supplied detergent make it easier to pack for a longer stay.
Put Windfall Lake first on the agenda: paddle one of the four provided kayaks, swim from the private shore or fish from the seasonal dock. Guests bringing a boat can use the lake’s public launch. Wisconsin DNR identifies this as a 104-acre lake with walleye, bass, northern pike and panfish among its species, so choose your tackle around the fish you want to pursue and check current lake regulations.
For an outing on land, explore a section of the Tuscobia State Trail from a community access point such as Ojibwa or Radisson. The 74-mile rail corridor is open to walking and bicycling as well as permitted motorized uses; plan an out-and-back of whatever length suits your group and expect to share the route. ATV seasons differ by segment, and snowmobile openings depend on county conditions. Check the current map and opening report rather than treating the whole trail as one operating season.
A winter day at Christie Mountain near Bruce can suit several appetites for adventure: ski or snowboard the slopes, or choose the separate snow-tubing park with a conveyor lift. Reserve appropriate equipment or instruction separately and check operating dates before making it the day’s plan.
For a change from catching fish to comparing fish stories, make a seasonal day trip to the Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame in Hayward. Its vintage tackle, outboard motors and walk-through giant fish give anglers and non-anglers something to investigate. The museum and grounds generally operate from mid-April through October, making this a warm-season outing rather than a winter fallback.

Rates and minimum stays vary with dates, season and group size. Most weekends require at least two nights; peak summer and holiday dates may require three or more. Use our property calendar or request a quote for your dates and full guest count. A signed rental agreement is required; the primary renter must be 21 or older. No parties or smoking. Quiet hours are 10 p.m.–8 a.m. Parking is limited to six vehicles in designated areas.
Pets must be disclosed when booking. Our pet policy allows up to two dogs or cats, up to 15 pounds each, with a $250 nonrefundable pet fee per stay; ask us about larger pets before booking. Fresh bed linens and bath towels are provided. Daily housekeeping is not included. Confirm the current cancellation terms, any optional charges and your total in the booking quote.
A $300 security-deposit hold is required. The dock is seasonal. Four kayaks and life vests are included; a motorboat or pontoon is not included.
