Welcome to Wolf Lodge, our spacious log-home getaway overlooking Lake Petenwell near Necedah. Set on more than two acres, this four-bedroom, four-bath retreat sleeps up to twenty guests and brings a true lodge feeling to a gathering of family or friends. The two-story great room, substantial logs and fireplace invite everyone to settle in; the hardest job may be deciding who gets the favorite chair.
Across approximately 3,700 square feet, there is room for shared meals and a little elbow room afterward. The kitchen includes a commercial ice maker and Keurig coffee maker, while WiFi, air conditioning and laundry facilities make an extended stay easier. Head downstairs for games, make time for the workout room, or pick a movie on the Roku-equipped televisions. Please note that cable service is not provided.
A deck stretching along the home and a generous yard keep Lake Petenwell's scenery close, with an outdoor firepit for evenings together. A community walking path follows the lake, and Wilderness Park's beach and boat launch are about four miles away. Wolf Lodge combines the character of a substantial log home with space for a genuinely large group. Four bathrooms help with the morning shuffle, and the bedrooms are distributed across levels. The main-floor bedroom has a king bed; each upstairs bedroom combines a queen, a full and two twins; the lower-level bedroom has two queens, with a sofa sleeper adding flexibility. It's a layout made for planning a trip together without spending the whole trip shoulder to shoulder.
The lakeside setting is best enjoyed on foot along the community shoreline trail or from the home's long deck. This is not a private-dock or private-beach rental: use nearby Wilderness Park for launching and beach time, and park your boat in the driveway between outings. The community trail is for walking, not ATVs or other motor vehicles. Wolf Lodge is pet-free, and fireworks are not permitted.
Make Lake Petenwell the centerpiece of your stay. Launch your own boat at Wilderness Park, approximately four miles from the lodge, or enjoy the park's beach before returning to the quieter pace of the house. Anglers should check current licenses, regulations and lake conditions before heading out; the kitchen's ice maker is a handy companion for a day cooler.
Leave time for a nature outing around Necedah, where the national wildlife refuge offers opportunities for walking and watching wildlife. Bring binoculars, move quietly and let the day's sightings be a pleasant surprise. Back at the lodge, the community lakeside walking trail offers another way to stretch your legs without making a whole day's production of it.
Wisconsin Dells is approximately a 50-minute drive when your group wants a day of river sightseeing, attractions or downtown browsing. You can enjoy the bustle and still return to your own log-home retreat. End the day around the outdoor firepit or challenge the downstairs crew to a game. Keeping score is optional; retelling the winning move is apparently not.
