Let the open kitchen, dining area and main living room become your home base for breakfast plans and dinner catch-ups. Patio doors lead to a deck with seating and a gas grill, so the cook can join the conversation while supper takes shape. Downstairs, a second family room gives the game players and TV watchers their own gathering spot. Agreeing on one remote is optional here.
Make it a water-filled family vacation, a reunion with friends or a lake-and-golf getaway with time left over to do very little. A wood-planked ceiling and tall lakeside windows give the main living space its warm, cabin-at-the-lake character. Lake Therapy's two-level layout also gives your group room to spread out. Two queen bedrooms, including the primary suite, are on the main level; downstairs are another queen bedroom and a bunk room with two bunk beds. The lower family room adds a second TV, games, an extra refrigerator and a desk, while the laundry room upstairs helps with the practical side of a longer family stay.
The house meets the water in stages: lake-facing windows, the upper deck, a walkout lower level, then the lawn and private pier. Steps on the sloping shore connect the house to the lakeside area, so this is a property to consider carefully if stairs are a concern. A wooded backdrop and outdoor seating let you choose between the elevated lake view and an evening beside the water; the kayaks and paddle board are included for guests to use.
Start at our own Lake Arrowhead shoreline: take out a provided kayak or paddle board, swim, fish from the private pier or settle into a lakeside chair. Keep an evening free for the fire pit after dinner. If boating is part of your plan, ask us about arrangements for your stay; a motorboat or pontoon is not included with the house.
For a golf outing, Lake Arrowhead offers two 18-hole choices. The Pines has a wooded, parkland layout; the longer Lakes course adds water features and five sets of tees. Sand Valley offers a different landscape of broad sandy terrain, with courses including Mammoth Dunes and the 17-hole par-3 Sandbox. Arrange tee times separately and early, then return to Lake Therapy for a meal together instead of splitting up after the round.
Trade the fairways for a walk at Sand Valley. The moderate, 1.2-mile Songbird Trail loop begins behind Craig's Porch at the north end of the driving range and passes restoration areas and a red pine plantation. For a tougher outing, the advanced, 2.5-mile Ridge Trail starts at the south end of the clubhouse and finishes at its north end. Pick up the current trail map at the clubhouse or Visit Rome office to choose a route that suits your group. Plan a separate outing to Sand Valley for these walks.
For an outing with younger travelers, Papa Bear's Mini Golf has an 18-hole course and sweet treats; check its seasonal hours before heading over. During the summer market season, browse the Rome Farmers Market at Rome Town Center for locally grown food and handmade finds, with music on scheduled dates. The market's event calendar is useful when planning a Friday outing, and weather can change the entertainment schedule.
